RANKS/STATUS LEVELS

There are 13 ranks/levels within Skjǫldrinn, of which 6 ranks/levels are within the Sverðin brotherhood specifically, and thus, accessible without integration. Reaching any rank is subject to various conditions, and always requires the swearing of an oath (scope and purpose varies with each rank). Here’s an overview of key ranks and levels.

How to Reach a Rank?

The first 4 ranks can be reached by civilians and members of the public, without integration within Skjǫldrinn and as members of Sverðin.


HIRÐMAÐR (LEVEL 1)

ONLINE

Hirðmenn have essential knowledge of Forn Siðr, theoretical knowledge of survival techniques, as well as a basic understanding of the warrior spirit. Hirðmenn have further committed to living by the Víkinga Code, and are held at a high standard of manhood. Hirðmenn are united through common Norse values, whatever their background or geographic location may be.

Those who reach the rank of Hirðmenn are able to apply for assignment to a Hirð (Unit) within Sverðin (The Swords).

AVAILABLE RANKS

V-01 (HIRÐMAÐR): Upon graduation from Hirðmaðr Training Program.
V-02 (HIRÐMAÐR/SVERÐIN): Upon assignment to a Hirð (Unit).


HERSIR (LEVEL 2)

ONLINE & PRACTICAL

Hersar have a proven knowledge of Forn Siðr. They are true Norðmenn with demonstrated proficiency in several fundamental primitive skills, including combat, archery, and survival. Hersar are also defined by superior fitness levels, as well as a good understanding of the warrior ethos. Hersar are committed as well to applying the fundamentals of the Víkinga Code to their lives, and are held at a very high standard of manhood, as well as behavior.

Hersar are very strongly encouraged to recruit, manage, or lead their own Hirð (Unit), to promote Norse culture and values, and to uphold fundamental and traditional male characteristics.

AVAILABLE RANKS

V-03 (HERSIR): Upon graduation from Hersir Training Program and promotion.
V-04 (HERSIR/FORINGI): Upon promotion after demonstration of exceptional leadership.


BERSERKR (LEVEL 3)

OPERATOR

Berserkir have an advanced knowledge of Forn Siðr as well as norrœnt mál, and they are defined by superior levels of skills and spirituality, as well as exceptional physical fitness. Berserkir are experts at channeling their strength and energy, and they excel in various fundamental and primitive skills, including combat, archery, and survival. Berserkir are models of manhood and behavior, and represent the ideal Víkingr, operator, and ultimately warrior. 

Berserkir are able to offer various training programs. They are the image of Norse culture and values, and what a man should be.

AVAILABLE RANKS

S-07 (BERSERKR): Upon graduation from Berserkr Training Program, and prior to integration.
S-08 (BERSERKR/NÝLIGA): Upon permanent assignment to a Berserkir Hirð (Unit).
S-09 (BERSERKR/GØRR): Upon promotion after demonstrating exceptional leadership and performance.
S-10 (BERSERKR/HÖFÐINGI): Upon taking command of a Berserkir Hirð (Unit).


ÚLFHeÐinN (GENETIC)

Úlfhéðnar are born. Not made. They have developed their underlying potential in their blood, genes, and spirit. They also are masters of all things Norse. Úlfhéðnar have got the spirituality, the mental, the physical fitness, the knowledge and the skills (ranging from survival and martial, to healing, or even the ability to reach altered states of consciousness). 

Úlfhéðnar are organized into units (Hirðirmade up of twelve males. They live as a war band under whose level of organization remains at the discretion of each unit.

Potential Úlfhéðnar are assessed for identification throughout our various training programs.

AVAILABLE RANKS

V-05 (ÚLFHEÐINN/SÉRLIGA/SÉRLIGR): Upon being formally identified as an Úlfheðinn, without integration.
V-06 (ÚLFHEÐINN/FORINGI): Upon promotion after demonstrating exceptional leadership and performance.
S-11 (ÚLFHEÐINN/GØRR): Default rank for all integrated Úlfhéðnar.
S-12 (ÚLFHEÐINN/HIRÐARHÖFÐINGI): Upon taking command of an Úlfhéðnar Hirð (Unit).
S-13 (ÚLFHEÐINN/KONUNGR): Rank reserved to King as per Skjǫldrinn rules of succession.
